नाथूराम विनायक गोडसे का सच

नाथूराम विनायक गोडसे का जन्म १९ मई १९१० को भारत के महाराष्ट्र राज्य में पुणे के निकट बारामती नमक स्थान पर चित्तपावन मराठी परिवार में हुआ था। वे स्‍वभाव से सत्‍य सनातन धर्म के उपासक थे। वे एक पत्रकार, हिन्दू राष्ट्रवादी थे। इनका सबसे अधिक चर्चित कार्य मोहनदास करमचन्द गान्धी महात्मा गान्धी का वध था क्योंकि भारत के विभाजन और उस समय हुई साम्प्रदायिक हिंसा में लाखों हिन्दुओं की हत्या के लिये अधिकतम लोग गान्धी को ही उत्तरदायी मानते थे। यद्यपि वे अखिल भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस एवम् राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघसे भी जुड़े रहे परन्तु बाद में वे अखिल भारतीय हिन्दू महासभा में चले गये।

इनके पिता विनायक वामनराव गोडसे पोस्ट आफिस में एक साधारण कर्मचारी थे और माता लक्ष्मी गोडसे सिर्फ एक गृहणी थीं। नाथूराम के जन्म का नाम रामचन्द्र था। इनके जन्म से पहले इनके माता-पिता की सन्तानों में तीन पुत्रों की अल्पकाल में ही मृत्यु हो गयी थी केवल एक पुत्री ही जीवित बची थी। इसलिये इनके माता-पिता ने ईश्वर से प्रार्थना की थी कि यदि अब कोई पुत्र हुआ तो उसका पालन-पोषण लड़की की तरह किया जायेगा। इसी मान्यता के कारण इनकी नाक बचपन में ही छेद दी और नाम भी बदल दिया। बाद में ये नाथूराम विनायक गोडसे के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुए। ब्राह्मण परिवार में जन्म होने के कारण इनकी बचपन से ही धार्मिक कार्यों में गहरी रुचि थी। ये आध्‍यात्मिक प्रवृ‍त्ति के थे। इनके छोटे भाई गोपाल गोडसे के अनुसार ये बचपन में ध्यानावस्था में ऐसे-ऐसे विचित्र श्लोक बोलते थे जो इन्होंने कभी भी पढ़ें ही नहीं थे। ध्यानावस्था में ये अपने परिवार वालों और उनकी कुलदेवी के मध्य एक सूत्र का कार्य किया करते थे परन्तु यह सब १६ वर्ष तक की आयु तक आते-आते स्वत: समाप्त हो गया। 

वैसे तो इनकी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा पुणे में हुई थी परन्तु हाईस्कूल के बीच में ही अपनी पढ़ाई-लिखाई छोड़ दी तथा उसके बाद कोई औपचारिक शिक्षा नहीं ली। धार्मिक पुस्तकों में गहरी रुचि होने के कारण रामायण, महाभारत, गीता, पुराणों के अतिरिक्त स्वामी विवेकानन्द,स्वामी दयानन्द, बाल गंगाधर तिलक तथा महात्मा गान्धी के साहित्य का इन्होंने गहरा अध्ययन किया था। इनका आदर्श ग्रंथ गीता था। अपने राजनैतिक जीवन के प्रारम्भिक दिनों में नाथूराम राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ में शामिल हो गये। अन्त में १९३० में राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ भी छोड़ दिया और अखिल भारतीय हिन्दू महासभा में चले गये। उन्होंने दैनिक अग्रणी तथा हिन्दू राष्ट्र नामक दो समाचार-पत्रों का सम्पादन भी किया था। वे मुहम्मद अली जिन्ना की अलगाववादी विचार-धारा का बहुत ही प्रबल ढंग से विरोध किया करते थे। 

प्रारम्भ में तो उन्होंने मोहनदास करमचंद गांधी के कार्यक्रमों का समर्थन किया परन्तु बाद में गान्धी के द्वारा लगातार और बार-बार हिन्दुओं के विरुद्ध भेद-भाव पूर्ण नीति अपनाये जाने तथा मुस्लिम तुष्टीकरण किये जाने के कारण वे गान्धी के घोर विरोधी हो गये। वहीं, १९४० में हैदराबाद के तत्कालीन शासक निजाम ने उसके राज्य में रहने वाले हिन्दुओं पर बलात जजिया कर लगाने का निर्णय लिया जिसका हिन्दू महासभा ने विरोध करने का निर्णय लिया । हिन्दू महासभा के तत्कालीन अध्यक्ष विनायक दामोदर सावरकर के आदेश पर हिन्दू महासभा के कार्यकर्ताओं का पहला जत्था नाथूराम गोडसे के नेतृत्व में हैदराबाद गया। हैदराबाद के निजाम ने इन सभी को बन्दी बना लिया और कारावास में कठोर दण्ड दिये परन्तु बाद में हारकर उसने अपना निर्णय वापस ले लिया । इसमें नाथूराम गोडसे पूरी तरह से विजयी हुए। दूसरी ओर, १९४७ में भारत का विभाजन और विभाजन के समय हुई साम्प्रदायिक हिंसा ने नाथूराम को अत्यन्त उद्वेलित कर दिया। तत्कालीन परिस्थितियों को देखते हुए बीसवीं सदी की उस सबसे बडी त्रासदी के लिये मोहनदास करमचन्द गान्धी को ही पूरी तरह से उत्‍तरदायी माना । विभाजन के समय हुए एक निर्णय के अनुसार भारत द्वारा पकिस्तान को ७५ करोड़ रुपये देने थे, जिसमें से २० करोड़ दिए जा चुके थे। उसी समय पाकिस्तान ने भारत के कश्मीर प्रान्त पर आक्रमण कर दिया जिसके कारण भारत के तत्कालीन प्रधानमन्त्री पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू और गृहमन्त्री सरदार बल्लभ भाई पटेल के नेतृत्व में भारत सरकार ने पाकिस्तान को ५५ करोड़ रुपये न देने का निर्णय किया, परन्तु भारत सरकार के इस निर्णय के विरुद्ध गान्धी अनशन पर बैठ गये जो गोडसे जैसे राष्‍ट्रवादी को बहुत बुरा लगा । गान्धी के इस निर्णय से क्षुब्ध नाथूराम गोडसे और उनके कुछ साथियों ने गान्धी का वध करने का मजबूरी में आकर निर्णय लिया। गान्धी के अनशन से गोडसे को गहरी पीड़ा हुई। दुखी गोडसे तथा उनके कुछ मित्रों द्वारा गान्धी की हत्या योजनानुसार नई दिल्ली के बिरला हाउस पहुँचकर २० जनवरी १९४८ को मदनलाल पाहवा ने गान्धी की प्रार्थना-सभा में बम फेका। योजना के अनुसार बम विस्फोट से उत्पन्न अफरा-तफरी के समय ही गान्धी को मारना था परन्तु उस समय उनकी पिस्तौल ही जाम हो गयी वह एकदम न चल सकी। इस कारण नाथूराम गोडसे और उनके बाकी साथी वहाँ से भागकर पुणे वापस चले गये जबकि मदनलाल पाहवा को भीड़ ने पकड़ कर पुलिस को सुपुर्द कर दिया। नाथूराम गोडसे गान्धी को मारने के लिये पुणे से दिल्ली वापस आये और वहाँ पर पाकिस्तान से आये हुए हिन्दू तथा सिख शरणार्थियों के शिविरों में घूम रहे थे। उसी दौरान उनको एक शरणार्थी मिला, जिससे उन्होंने एक इतालवी कम्पनी की बैराटा पिस्तौल खरीदी। नाथूराम गोडसे ने अवैध शास्त्र रखने का अपराध न्यायालय में स्वीकार भी किया था। उसी शरणार्थी शिविर में उन्होंने अपना एक छाया-चित्र (फोटो) खिंचवाया और उस चित्र को दो पत्रों के साथ अपने सहयोगी नारायण आप्टे को पुणे भेज दिया। ३० जनवरी १९४८ को नाथूराम गोडसे दिल्ली के बिड़ला भवन में प्रार्थना-सभा के समय से ४० मिनट पहले पहुँच गये। जैसे ही गान्धी प्रार्थना-सभा के लिये परिसर में दाखिल हुए, नाथूराम ने पहले उन्हें हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम किया उसके बाद बिना कोई बिलम्ब किये अपनी पिस्तौल से तीन गोलियाँ मार कर गान्धी का वध करनें में पूरी तरह सफल हो गए । गोडसे ने उसके बाद भागने का कोई प्रयास नहीं किया उनके चेहरे पर बहुत शांति का भाव था।
