NON ALCOHOL TREATMENT

Liver Diseases are mainly caused due to the excessive intake of alcohol. But sometimes it can also occur due to other reasons also. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one such disorder that is caused by excessive build-up of fat within liver cells.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease generally occurs when a person is obese or over-weight. It majority of the cases, the people suffering from with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease do not develop any severe liver problems. But in rare cases, it can happen. The people with NAFLD have high chances of developing cardiovascular problems such as heart attacks and stroke.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is divided into 4 stages:
Simple Fatty Liver- Usually, a small amount of fat is stored in liver cells. In Simple fatty liver disease the excessive build-up of fat occurs within liver cells. This disease does not cause any potential harm to the individuals suffering from it.
Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) - This disease is associated with excessive build-up of fat within liver cells that may result in the inflammation of the liver. The rate of incidence of this disease is less as compared to Simple Fatty Liver.
Fibrosis- In this stage of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, scar tissue forms within the liver. In the initial stages, the function of the liver does not get affected and continue to function normally.
Cirrhosis- It is a very serious condition in which lot of fibrosis occurs. The normal cells of the liver is replaced by the scar tissue. In Cirrhosis, the normal functioning of the liver gets disrupted. It is the severe kind of Fibrosis. In rare cases, liver failure may also occur. In those cases, the liver stops functioning completely.
What are the main indications of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease?
Generally, people suffering from simple fatty liver or non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) observe no indications. In some cases the patient may feel persistent pain in the upper-right part of the abdomen. A person may also feel exhausted and tired all the time. In case there are no signs, then the Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease is diagnosed by abnormal blood test result.

How is non-alcoholic fatty liver disease diagnosed?

·         Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Scan

Given below are the ways by which non-alcoholic fatty liver disease can be treated:

·         Reduction in weight

·         Regular Exercise

·         Decreasing the intake of food rich in fatty acids

·         Reducing the consumption of alcohol

·         Stopping the use of medicines that may harm the liver
